THE OBJECTIVES

A church has stood on the site since around the time of the Conquest. Over the next one thousand years various alterations and additions have been made to preserve the church to the building we see today.

The church has increased in size by the addition of the north aisle, the tower and steeple, the clerestory windows and an enlarged chancel over those years. It has been well cared for, is in sound structural condition and is well heated.

It is ideally suited to broaden it's use in the wider community. In order to further improve the facilities our first task is to raise money to build a small kitchen and provide a toilet, which would also cater for the disabled. This extension, to be built outside the northwest corner, would also provide level entry for wheelchairs to the church.

With this in mind, a varied programme of events is being planned to suit all ages and tastes. This programme is not only designed to make money but also to provide community entertainment and services to keep our church in the minds of "Friends" and other supporters.

Events planned will include music to suit all tastes, live small plays, displays and festivals. We offer sales of books on our church and village history and poetry by a local author.

We also envisage encouraging local people and business's to become sponsors and supporters of our various projects and help to encourage the use of the church for the community, as it would have been in earlier times.

It is hoped in the near future to set up an “Auction Service” when a professional valuer can assist in deciding values of articles people wish to auction, and give a proportion of the proceeds to our charity.

We will also be applying for grant assistance to meet the anticipated cost of our building programme, approximately £30,000 and to encourage all those who support our efforts to sign Gift Aid forms to enable us to claim back tax at 28%.

As our church is on the "Lincolnshire Tourist Trial" we continue to make visitors welcome, the church being open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm daily all through the year.

Here visitors will find peace and tranquillity, which together with the items for sale and a tidy and attractive country churchyard will make a visit an enjoyable and interesting experience. Our visitors' book endorses this view with many complimentary remarks.
